All Saints’ Church

Springfield, Chelmsford

A friendly, welcoming church for everyone
in the heart of the community

Phased Re-opening of Church Buildings for Services

The phased re-opening of All Saints' church buildings for services is under way with Evening Prayer services at 4.30 pm on every Sunday in August. You will need to book in advance - please see the News page for more information about coming to these services.

Online Services - Prayers

Meanwhile our online services and opportunities for prayer continue:

  • Online Sunday Communion: every Sunday you are welcome to join us for a Communion Service which is pre-recorded and posted in the Videos & Downloads section of this page. If we watch this at 10.30 am we can continue to worship and pray together. And if you can't be with us at that time, you can always view and listen to it later. There is an Order of Service in the Videos & Downloads section if you would like to follow the service and join in the responses.
  • Virtual Sunday Special: every Sunday at 10.30 am we are also holding a live Virtual Sunday Special Service as a video conference, and everyone is welcome. If you would like to be 'invited' to future Sunday Specials, please email
  • Worship At Home: if you would like to worship at home, either by yourself or with members of your family or household, we have prepared a simple service sheet you may like to use. Download this Worship At Home service sheet, choose a Bible reading, and perhaps have a candle or a cross as a sign that Jesus is with you as you worship.
  • Personal Prayer in Church: the church is open for personal prayer on Wednesdays from 10.30 am to noon, and on Sundays from 2.30 pm to 4.00 pm, making sure that we keep everyone safe.
  • Daily Prayers: every day prayers are being said at 9.00 am and 5.00 pm at places around the parish. Please join your prayers to ours at those times if you can.
  • Church Online: There are lots of church services that are being shared online, as well as prayers and other resources which you may find helpful. Follow this Church Online link to see what appeals to you.

We hold a wide variety of services at different times during the week, so please join us as often as you wish! Services are either held in the historic Church or the modern Church Centre – for more information about our buildings, and their accessibility for people with disabilities, please see the Our Church page. At Christmas and Easter, you will find details of our special services on the News page.

New to All Saints’ ?

Someone will welcome you when you arrive and make sure you have everything you need to enjoy the service and feel at home. It’s best to come a few minutes early to get settled before the service starts, you can sit wherever you like and there are usually plenty of seats. Please introduce yourself to one of our ministers before you leave, and if you’re coming to one of our 10.30 am Sunday morning services, do join us in the Hall of the Church Centre after the service for a drink and a chat.

Children are welcome at all our services. They will particularly enjoy our monthly Worship Together service, generally held on the first Sunday morning of the month in the Church, and our Sunday Special service, held on all the other Sundays in the Church Centre.

If you’re coming to a service in the Church with young children, please ask one of the sidespersons who greets you for a 'Happy Bag' that will keep them entertained! And don’t worry if they make a bit of noise, we like to see and hear children in the service. But should you want to take them out for any reason, if you go through the door opposite the church entrance you will find a room along the corridor where you can take them for a while. The toilets are further along the corridor, with baby changing facilities in the disabled toilet.

Worship Together

Our monthly Worship Together service is normally held on the first Sunday of the month in the Church, and is suitable for all ages including young children. There are songs, short talks and Bible readings, and simple prayers, which everyone can appreciate and enjoy. The Boys’ Brigade, Rainbows Brownies and Guides come to some of our Worship Together services.  For special occasions like Easter Day the service may be moved to a different Sunday and may include Holy Communion ('Communion Together').

Sunday Special

Our Sunday Special service is held from 10.30 am to around 11.15 am in the Church Centre every Sunday, except when there is a Worship Together Service. It’s a service for young families and the young at heart, providing a more informal worship with songs, Bible stories, prayers, talks and activities, and a lot of friendship and fun! The music is lively and modern, and children are encouraged to be fully involved.

Holy Communion

All are welcome at our Holy Communion services, held every Sunday and Wednesday, where we reflect on what God is saying to us through the Bible, and receive bread and wine as we remember how Jesus gave up his life for us on the cross. If you don’t usually receive Holy Communion, you may like to come up to the altar holding your service card, to receive a blessing. The Prayer Ministry Team will be here to pray with you privately if you would like this, during and after 10.30 am Holy Communion services on Sundays – there is further information about the work of the team in the Praying section of the What We Do page.

We can arrange for those unable to come to services to receive Holy Communion in their homes – for more information please contact Revd Susan Iskander, 01245 356720,

Morning and Evening Prayer

On weekdays these are short spoken services with Bible readings, responses, and prayers. On Sundays Morning Prayer is a longer service, with a sermon and hymns.

The Lord's Prayer with Actions
